Elderly Man Charged with DUI Manslaughter After Fatal Crash

Lutz, FL – The Florida Highway Patrol is reporting the arrest of a Lutz man in connection with an overnight fatal crash involving a motorcycle.

Officials say 72-year-old William Edward Ricks was traveling southbound on US-41 in a Ford Escape when he turned into the path of a motorcycle driven by a 26-year-old Largo man at Lake Floyd Drive. The motorcyclist was transported to a trauma center where he later died.

During an investigation, it was determined that Ricks was impaired and was subsequently charged with DUI Manslaughter.
