Arson Investigation Underway at Local Gas Station

SPRING HILL, FL – A search is underway for a suspect who sources say attempted to set fire to the RaceTrac gas station.

Fire Rescue responded to the RaceTrac located at Cortez Blvd and Deltona Blvd around 10:30 a.m. this morning after reports of a commercial fire. It was soon determined the fire may have been set intentionally, which prompted a search for a possible suspect.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office, deputies are currently searching for a white male, approximately 40 years old, with long blonde hair, and carrying two backpacks. Officials say one of the backpacks appeared to have a cat inside.

The extent of damage to the structure is unknown and there have been no reports of injuries.

The State Fire Marshal is investigating the incident.
