Weekend of Deadly Crashes Claims Four Lives

HERNANDO COUNTY, FL – Several families are grieving the loss of loved ones after a tragic weekend of fatal crashes on Hernando County roadways.

The first crash occurred around 8:35 p.m. Saturday, when officials say a 42-year-old Brooksville man was operating an electric bicycle on the Nature Coast Trail. As the driver approached the intersection of Highfield Road, he failed to stop and was struck by a Chevy Trailblazer. The driver suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. A female passenger on the electric bike also suffered serious injuries.

Two people died at the intersection of Lake Lindsey Road and Daly Road Sunday, when the driver of a Honda Accord, a 22-year-old Brooksville woman, pulled into the path of a Harley Davidson motorcycle driven by a 70-year-old Homosassa man. Both drivers died at the scene.

Last night, a 68-year-old Hernando Beach woman was killed after crashing her Cadillac Escalade into a canal on Shoal Line Blvd. Officials say the woman lost control of her vehicle just south of Lentini Lane, struck two palm trees and then overturned in a canal. The woman died at the scene from her injuries.

These accidents are very sad. The one where a Honda pulled in front of a motorcycle there is an error in the article. It was both the woman and man who died. Not both men. She was the daughter of a family member's employee. Please make the correction. Thank you.
