Body Discovered in Shallow Grave Behind Shopping Plaza, Two Men Face Charges

SPRING HILL, FL – A homicide investigation is underway after sources say the body of a male victim was discovered behind a shopping plaza on Wendy Court.

Officials have not commented on the investigation, but several sources tell R News that the victim's body was discovered in a homeless camp near Algood Road. Those same sources say the suspect(s) attempted to dispose of his body in a shallow grave (Pictured) and that his throat appeared to have been cut.

According to the Hernando County Sheriff's Office Jail website, 56-year-old Duane Sanders and 37-year-old Jeffrey Wayne Brehony were taken into custody Saturday evening and charged with Abuse of a Dead Body. Brehony is held on a $10,000 bond and Sanders is held on a $40,000 bond. Neither suspect has been charged with the victim's death.

Residents in Hernando County are growing more concerned over the increase in violent crime, especially with the number of gang-related shootings that continue to plague Spring Hill. Sheriff Al Nienhuis denies those claims and says crime is down under his watch.

R News will bring more on this story as it develops.
