Spring Hill Woman Charged with Aggravated Child Abuse After Infant Suffers Multiple Fractures

SPRING HILL, FL – The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is reporting the arrest of a woman who they say caused severe injuries to her infant child.

According to reports, Detectives were alerted to a possible child abuse case by the Tampa Police Department, after an infant was airlifted to St. Joseph's Hospital on August 25, 2024.

Officials say the child suffered multiple skull fractures, along with fractures to both shins and both femurs and a collarbone fracture. All injuries noted were in various stages of healing, from injuries that occurred at an earlier date. The infant was listed in critical condition, say officials.

The infant's mother, 19-year-old Arianna Renee Hamilton, told a nurse that while changing the infant's diaper, the child rolled off the bed and was injured by impacting the floor.

During an interview with detectives, Hamilton reiterated her story that the infant's injuries were accidental.

On 08-27-24, Hamilton was interviewed again by detectives at her home on Woodbury Road, where she finally admitted to becoming frustrated and squeezing the infant too hard, causing the fractures.

Hamilton was placed under arrest and charged with Aggravated Child Abuse and Child Neglect. Hamilton was released on a $10,000 bond the following day.
