BREAKING: Children Escape "Runaway" School Bus, Possibly Still Missing

UPDATE 5:30 P.M. - Bjarkman says another parent told him that at least six children were able to escape. He says one child was driving to use the front exit door but fell back inside when the bus began moving again. Bjarkman says he's the Transportation Department is not taking parent's calls. "How can I put my kid back on that bus in the morning and how can the Transportation Department ignore our calls," says Bjarkman.

SPRING HILL – There are unconfirmed reports that a Fox Chapel Middle School bus is missing after the driver began driving erratically and missing several stops.

Chris Bjarkman contacted R News minutes ago and stated bus #1 missed his daughter's stop and continued driving in strange loops throughout the neighborhood. Bjarkman says he was monitoring the school bus app which allows parents to see where their child's bus is located.

Bjarkman's wife Malinda drove to the area of Bladon Street and Meredith Drive, where she caught up with the bus. That's where another parent used their vehicle to cut off the bus, allowing at least three children to escape through the emergency exit, including Bjarkman's 12-year-old daughter. The driver then drove away with an unknown number of children still on the bus.

It's unknown if the driver is having a medical episode, but Bjarkman says the driver is an elderly man.

There has been no statement from the School District or Sheriff's Office regarding the incident.
