New Development Services Director Abruptly Resigns

BROOKSVILLE – The County's new Development Services Director Peter Schwarz has resigned after just eight months on the job, and sources say it may have been his only option to avoid termination.

A confidential source inside Hernando County Government tells R News that Schwarz was accused of sexually harassing at least one employee. Officials would not confirm those allegations, but they did provide a copy of his resignation letter.

In a letter submitted to County Administrator Jeff Rogers, Schwarz writes, "I am resigning from my position as Development Services Director for Hernando County effective immediately."

Sources say Schwarz may have left the area and returned to South Florida.
