UPDATE: Woman Charged with Arson in Connection with Structure Fire

UPDATE: July 21, 2024 - An arrest has been made in connection with a structure fire that destroyed a Spring Hill Home on Saturday.

According to the Hernando County Detention Center website, 43-year-old Christina Marie Bock of 2080 Haulover Ave, has been charged with 2nd Degree Arson, Criminal Mischief, Failing to Report a Dangerous Fire, and Weapons Offense. Sources say Bock threw a Molotov Cocktail into her home which sparked the fire.

The Sheriff's Office has not released a statement regarding the incident.

SPRING HILL – An investigation is underway into a structure fire that destroyed a home this afternoon, and sources say it may be arson.

According to Hernando County Fire Rescue, firefighters responded to the 2080 block of Haulover Ave around 3:30 p.m. after receiving reports of a structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters began a defensive attack due to the home being nearly engulfed in flames. Officials say it took nearly 45 minutes to bring the fire under control while battling heavy rain and lightning.

There are no injuries reported and the State Fire Marshal is investigating the cause.

According to sources, the woman set fire to her own home and was found standing in the backyard of her neighbor's residence after the fire was extinguished.

CORRECTION: R News originally reported that the suspect set fire to her neighbor's home, but that was incorrect. R News has now learned that Bock set fire to her own residence at 2080 Haulover Ave. According to the Property Appraiser website, Bock is listed as the owner.
