Possible Homicide Investigation Underway After Inmate Dies at Hernando County Jail

BROOKSVILLE – The Hernando County Sheriff's Office is investigating an inmate's death at the Hernando County Detention Center.

Officials are not releasing many details, but they say the inmate died as a result of an incident that occurred at the jail on June 14, 2024.

The inmate was transported to a local hospital where officials say he was pronounced deceased.
