Firefighters Save Driver After Vehicle Overturns into Canal

HERNANDO BEACH – One person is in critical condition after a vehicle overturned into a canal along Shoal Line Blvd.

The incident took place around 9:00 p.m. last night, when Fire Rescue responded to the area of Lentini Lane and Shoal Line Blvd. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered a vehicle on its roof and partially submerged in the canal. Crews immediately entered the water and pulled the lone occupant to shore. CPR was initiated along with Advanced Cardiac Life Support procedures. Officials say they were able to regain a pulse while in transit to a trauma center.

At the time of their report, officials say the driver was in critical condition.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.
