WILDWOOD – The Sumter County Sheriff's Office is reporting the arrest of an illegal immigrant who allegedly stabbed a male victim to death inside a hotel room.
Sheriff's deputies responded to the Days Inn on SR-44 around 7:44 p.m. Saturday, after receiving reports of a stabbing. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the victim, 25-year-old Bilder Eulaio Pablowith, with stab wounds to the chest. The victim was airlifted to a trauma center where he later died.
After a brief search, deputies located the suspect, 49-year-old Ricardo Agustin Lorenzo in a wooded area along I-75. Lorenzo was taken into custody and charged with Second Degree Murder. He is currently held without bond in the Sumter County Jail.
Both the victim and suspect are from Guatemala and were in the United States illegally, say officials.
The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Agency (ICE) are in the process of placing a detainer on the suspect.
The incident remains under investigation.
