Holiday Man Pleads Guilty to Charge Related to January 6th Protest in D.C.

TAMPA – 1,313 demonstrators have been arrested, so far, since the massive protest that rocked Washington D.C. on January 6, 2020, and a Pasco man is the latest to plead guilty on a charge related to entering the Capitol.

On Thursday, 37-year-old Ryan Yates of Holiday pled guilty to a charge of Civil Disorder and will be sentenced on June 12th.

According to court documents, on Jan. 6, 2021, Yates entered the restricted area around the United States Capitol building and stood outside the building, along the northwest corner, near the scaffolding that was set up for the upcoming Inauguration. Yates pushed away barricades that had been set up to block protesters from reaching the Capitol and entered the building at approximately 2:17 p.m. via the Senate Wing Doors. Officials say Yates then began to "pump his fist."

The FBI arrested Yates in Tampa on September 26, 2023.

If elected, President Donald Trump vows to pardon "a large portion" of those convicted for participating in the protest.
