BROOKSVILLE – Yesterday afternoon, R News reported that an alleged sexual assault of a minor was occurring at an address on Huston Street. Sources say the victim's mother was contacted by cellphone, who in turn contacted the Hernando County Sheriff's Office. Sheriff's Deputies immediately responded to the residence and secured the underage victim who was still on scene. The suspect had already left through the rear of the residence but was taken into custody moments later.
The suspect and stepfather to the victim, 40-year-old Juan Pioquinto-Victoriano, was transported to the Sheriff's Office for an interview before being booked into the Hernando County Jail.
Pioquinto is charged with 1-count of Lewd and Lascivious Behavior with a minor between the ages of 12 and 16, and Domestic Battery. He is currently held on a $12,000 bond.
With the use of a translator, Judge Kurt Hitzemann explained to Pioquinto during a First Appearance hearing this morning that he was to have no contact with the victim or her mother, and would have to wear a GPS device. Hitzemann was very stern when he told Pioquinto that the victim cannot drop the charges.
Pioquinto's immigration status is unknown at this time.
