Bobbie Jean Carter Released from Jail After Posting Bond on Theft and Drug Charges

BROOKSVILLE – Another member of the famed Carter family landed herself in hot water, earlier this month, after she was caught stealing from a local department store.

According to reports, on June 10th loss prevention employees with Hobby Lobby witnessed 41-year-old Bobbie Joe Carter take coloring markers and conceal them in her purse. Carter then tried to leave the story but was taken into custody. While waiting in the loss prevention office, Carter allegedly tossed a blue container under a desk that contained approximately 1.3 grams of a white powdery substance and 0.8 grams of a purple substance that tested positive for fentanyl.

Carter was booked into the Hernando County Jail on charges of Retail Theft and Possession of Fentanyl. Carter remained behind bars until she posted bond earlier this afternoon.

Carter is the sister of the late Aaron Carter and Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys.

Carter was found guilty on two prior counts of retail theft after she was caught stealing merchandise from a Brooksville Bealls Outlet store in 2020.

In April, Carter's mother 64-year-old Jane Schneck was arrested on Domestic Battery charges after she allegedly struck her husband with a television remote. Those charges were later abandoned by the State Attorney.

Aaron Carter died at his home in California in November of 2022, after he passed out from taking sedatives and drowned in a bathtub.
