Fire Marshal to Investigate Suspicious Explosion and Fire

BROOKSVILLE - Fire Rescue is on the scene of a possible boat fire that may have spread to a nearby home at the intersection of Jasbow Junction and Desert Sparrow Ave.

Witnesses say they heard an explosion and then saw smoke and flames near the residence.

It is unknown at this time if the residence is occupied.

UPDATE: The State Fire Marshal is responding to the scene. Deputies are possibly searching for a suspect who fled on foot.

UPDATE: There are no victims inside the residence.

UPDATE: Officials released the following information:

HCFR crews responded to a reported house fire just after 8:00pm in the area of Jasbow Jct and Desert Sparrow Ave. A fully involved boat was found in the driveway. Crews quickly extinguished the boat fire and checked the home for any extension. No injuries reported and the State Fire Marshall's office is investigating.

Note: It has been determined that it was a travel trailer, not a boat that exploded and burned.
