Second Suspect in Local Murder Investigation Arrested in Putnam County

PUTNAM COUNTY – A second suspect in a Hernando County homicide investigation has been taken into custody, after a tip led investigators to a residence in Pomona Park, Florida.

According to the Putnam County Sheriff's Office, 25-year-old Reynol Mariscal Gonzalez was arrested on Tuesday, after Hernando County Sheriff's Office investigators provided information on his whereabouts.

Deputies converged on in the area of Robin Road, where they believed Gonzalez was hiding and located the suspect driving in the area. A felony traffic stop was conducted, and Gonzalez was taken into custody without incident.

Gonzalez is currently held in the Putnam County Jail, awaiting extradition back to Hernando County to face charges of Homicide and 2-counts of Aggravated Battery.

On the same day, Hernando County Sheriff's Deputies served a warrant at a residence on Canterbury Street in Spring Hill, where they arrested 29-year-old Jimmy Veloso Nguyen, after a near-3-hour standoff with Sheriff's Deputies. CLICK HERE for that story.

It should be noted that the case numbers for both suspects are identical. It is not known if additional arrests are forthcoming.

The Hernando County Sheriff's Office has not released a statement regarding the arrests or the investigation.
